One of the things that I do every day is answer e-mails from people who have questions about dealing with debt. One of the most common questions I get is “what does it cost?” Obviously if you are having financial problems what things cost is a big concern.
When we are talking about a Consumer Proposal, the simplest answer is “less than you are paying now to keep your debt”
Many people who have accumulated debt are making their payments, but they can only afford to make minimum payments. Every month they see hundreds of dollars going out to service their debt, but they never see it reducing.
What if you could pay less than you are paying to keep your debt now, and see yourself debt free in 5 years or less? Is that a good deal? Most people I talk to when they see how little a consumer proposal can cost compared to what they are paying now wish they had come in to see me years ago.
Then next question I get asked after they see that the proposal is affordable and they know they can do it is “what about your fees? how much do you charge to do this?” The answer to that question usually makes people very happy. The cost is built into the deal, the trustee is paid a portion of the payment made to the people you owe money to., there ARE NO extra fees no additional up from payments nothing. The deal is the deal, all in.
For example say you owe $60 000.00 in credit card and line of credit debt. We can negotiate at deal in which you can settle this debt for as little as ⅓ or $20 000.00 Your payment would be just over $330.00 a month ALL IN. If you were making minimum payments on $60 000.00 it could be $1000.00 a month or more just to keep the debt forever. Under a consumer proposal you can pay a fraction and see it gone for good in 5 years or less.
It’s no wonder that Consumer Proposals have become the most popular and effective means to deal with debt in Canada. A fair and reasonable deal , you can afford and all fees included, what could be better? For more information check out this Link
